Headquartered in the UK our client is a recognised provider of logistics services and solutions to an enviable client base predominantly in the FMCG and retail sectors. The business has successfully developed a strong European presence which now accounts for 65% of current revenues. Based on this success, the strategy moving forward is to further develop new clients and new business streams in both existing and new European countries. This has resulted in the need to appoint a Head of European Business Development.

Reporting to the Board the key responsibilities will include:

Developing and deploying a business development strategy focussed on further increasing new clients in Europe
Identifying target organisations in the FMCG and retail sectors and developing a pipeline of sales
Managing and developing a small team across Europe
Identifying and developing new business streams in new sectors across Europe.
Building professional and credible relationships with key stakeholders in target organisations to ensure the business is recognised as the logistics partner of choice
Taking a lead role on tenders andew business pitches
Playing a key role in developing marketing material to support business development
Maintaining a through understanding of sector/market trends and identifying new business opportunities

Candidate's Profile

Prospective candidates will be of graduate calibre with a demonstrable track record of success of sales and business development operating within logistics service providers. Experience of developing new business accounts within European FMCG and retail clients would be highly desirable. You will be ‘hands on' in style and be prepared to travel frequently across Europe. Of equal importance are strong interpersonal skills coupled with a strong commercial awareness that will ensure you make an immediate impact in this growth business.
